the male body
In the reading Susan Bordo states that men are suppose to be moving targets, to never be caught in the act, even if its fantasy. My advertisment is Armaniexchange clothing ad, with 2 models one male & one female, But neither look out at you both gazes are indirect. The male has his shirt ripped open by the female he's looking down at his chest while she looks down at him. They are caught in a "sexual" act and as Bordo stated the men should not be enjoying the attention that they look away and doesnt give you the satisfaction of being caught in the act.

Your analysis of the ad is interesing but I wish you interpreted the quote by explaining what it means in your own words. Why should men refuse the gaze, as if it were to trap them or stop them from what they are doing? How is this related to masculinity?
ReplyDeleteMen arent suppose to act femine most women caught in the act of something will tend to make eye contact, while this man is in a "sexual lust" witht the women & instead of looking directly out looks down towards his body, which draws you in with the advertisment but also keeping his "feelings" or emotions hiden
